Codling wind park has launched an engagement campaign open to local community groups, clubs, societies or schools in the Wicklow, Sandymount and Poolbeg areas to learn more about Irelands largest Phase 1 offshore wind project and the benefits it will bring to local communities.
Pat Sammon, External Affairs Manager at Codling Wind Park said “We have opened up the invitation to all groups in our communities who want to know more about the project and the up to €200 million Codling Wind Park Community Benefit Fund. We will visit your club house or community centre and share information on the project and let you experience offshore wind through virtual reality.”
Codling Wind Park is a 1,300 MW offshore wind farm proposed to be developed in the Irish Sea, approximately 13-22 kilometres off the County Wicklow coast, between Greystones and Wicklow Town.

With the potential to provide power to over 1 million Irish homes every year, Codling Wind Park is the largest Phase One offshore renewable energy project in Ireland, essential to achieve our national renewable energy and climate action targets.
The Codling Wind Park Community Benefit Fund (CBF) of up to €200m will be established as part of the project to fund local community-based projects. The aim of the fund, which will be administered by an experienced and independent Fund Administrator, is to deliver economic, environmental, social, and cultural benefits to local community groups over a twenty-year period. This €10m per year Fund, one of the biggest anywhere in the world, will become available after the project has received planning and begun construction. The project is urging community groups to consider what projects or initiatives they would like to benefit from the fund.
